The Island Development Organization (IDO) is committed to empowering vulnerable communities in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands by addressing their most pressing challenges. From providing educational resources to ensuring healthcare access, we strive to create self-sustaining communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Our work spans various sectors, including women’s empowerment, healthcare for senior citizens, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Cows are essential to the livelihood of rural communities in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. These animals provide not only milk, but also manure for farming and organic produce. However, many cows suffer due to poor living conditions, inadequate nutrition, and lack of proper care. Our Gaushala Development initiative ensures that cows receive proper shelter, regular feeding, and veterinary care. By maintaining these shelters, we are able to support local farmers who rely on cattle for sustenance and income.
In many remote villages, children lack access to the resources they need to continue their education. For children from economically disadvantaged families, the struggle to afford school supplies, uniforms, and tuition often leads to dropping out. At IDO, our Education for All program works to bridge this gap by providing scholarships, study materials, and mentorship. We believe that education is a right, not a privilege. With each child we support, we are opening doors to brighter futures, where young minds can grow, thrive, and contribute to the community.
Women in rural communities often face significant challenges, including limited access to education, employment, and financial independence. Our Livelihood Programs for Women aim to empower women by providing vocational training and support in areas like food processing, soap-making, and local craft production. By equipping women with skills, we are helping them establish self-sustaining households, giving them a sense of purpose and economic independence. These programs not only uplift women but also contribute to the broader community’s economic stability.

Protecting cows means protecting farmers. Our Gaushala program provides shelter, fodder, and veterinary care, ensuring dignity for cattle and security for families who depend on them.
