Elderly citizens are often the silent warriors of our societies. Having spent their lives building the communities and families we know today, many elderly people now face neglect, sickness, and loneliness. In the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, elderly citizens struggle with limited access to healthcare, medicines, and basic necessities. Their physical ailments are compounded by isolation and the inability to afford essential care. Too many elders are left to suffer in silence, without the help they deserve. In their later years, these individuals need support and attention to ensure they live their final years with dignity and respect.

IDO’s Response

Through the Old Age Support program, IDO provides essential medical care to elderly citizens who are at risk of neglect and ill-health. This includes regular medical check-ups, distribution of medicines, and the organization of medical camps for those who cannot access healthcare on their own. With as little as ₹1000, one elderly person can receive vital treatment for an entire month. For ₹6000, they can receive ongoing medical support for a whole year, ensuring that they stay healthy, comfortable, and cared for. This initiative is about restoring the dignity of our elders, giving them access to the care they need and deserve.

Honoring Their Legacy

Caring for the elderly is not just about offering medical care; it is a way to honor their contribution to our society. These are the people who shaped our communities, and it’s our responsibility to ensure they live their later years in comfort, health, and respect. The Old Age Support program by IDO goes beyond treating illness; it is about offering companionship, ensuring that seniors are not left alone in their time of need. By supporting this program, you are showing elders that their lives still matter, that their legacy is honored, and that they are valued members of our society.
